Henderson Woman Flips Car With Baby Inside, Accused Of Being On Drugs

Henderson Police have charged a woman after an accident that sent a 3-month-old baby to the hospital.

According to HPD, Ruth Allen flipped her car on North Elm Street around 10:45 Wednesday night.

When police arrived, Allen was walking unsteadily, eventually telling authorities that she had taken Suboxone a few hours earlier.

An infant was in the car when it rolled over. The baby was taken to Methodist Hospital for possible injuries. Police have not released the baby's name or condition.

Allen was taken to the Henderson County Detention Center where she was charged with DUI. HPD said they advised her of the contraband warning, but shortly after being booked she was searched by jailers. A number of prescription pills were located in her front pocket, according to police.

Ruth Allen is now also facing charges of Possession Of A Controlled Substance and Prmoting Contraband.
