Huntingburg locals react to child neglect case

Eyewitness News gets reaction from people in Huntingburg to the case of Alan and Aimee Friz. They are now free on bond after their arrest on multiple felony charges.

Tuesday morning Alan and Aimee Friz posted bond. Alan's was set at a $25,000 cash bond and Aimee's at $10,000. Today we spoke with locals on their opinion now that the Friz's are out

“I think if you do the crime you should pay the price,” said resident Kenny Hochgesang.

Some Huntingburg residents are not happy that Alan and Aimee Friz are free.

“It's just not right for him to be out,” said former patient Lindsey Castillo.

“Have I been around them before, yes. We have seen them in restaurants and things of that nature but there was always something peculiar,” said resident Tina Dearing.

It's not just people who live in Huntingburg are talking, this local case is getting international coverage. The Daily Mail in the UK is also reporting about the Friz case.

According to the affidavit… Aimee Friz referenced the child was mentally disabled. Basing that on an online search the couple made. The affidavit also states the couple say they were "trying to find a placement for the child."

“I don't see how someone can mistreat a person with special needs, my grandson is one and I can't imagine it. If you have trouble with them then you seek counseling, you seek therapies of that nature rather than just assuming you're going to take care of it yourself,” said Dearing.

A patient of the dentist says she learned of the news after showing up for her appointment.

“I think, I'm like, wow it's crazy. Cause like whenever I went to my dentist appointment I’m thinking why isn't he here,” said patient Kady Harris.

She recalls seeing photos in his office of his children, but now is just stunned.

The Dubois County Sheriff's Office says the investigation is still ongoing and that Alan and

Aimee Friz have been ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Their next court hearing is set for November 9, 2017.
