IN Bill Would Allow Handguns to be Pawned

A bill co-authored by Indiana State Senator Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville) has passed the Indiana Senate. The bill would allow Hoosiers to pawn handguns.

Currently, you can only pawn long guns like rifles or sell a handgun to a pawn shop.

However, Senate Bill 13 would allow a person to put up a handgun as collateral for a loan.

The person would then have to pass a federal background check before getting the handgun back.

The bill now goes before the Indiana House for debate.
