IN Lawmakers Advance Two Voting Bills

Indiana lawmakers have advanced two bills that would make voting more convenient on Election Day.

House Bill 1178 mandates the Bureau of Motor Vehicles employees ask customers transacting any business at a license branch whether they want to update their voter registration.

Voting could also be made more convenient if more counties choose to replace precinct polling places with vote centers using the provisions lined out by House Bill 1472.

That measure would also eliminate an existing requirement that county election boards unanimously approve vote centers.

Both proposals will move to the State Senate for consideration.
