An investigation is underway following the death of a Gibson County Jail inmate.
According to Indiana State Police, 52-year-old Charles Sherman was discovered hanging in his cell around 3 Wednesday afternoon.
Corrections officers attempted CPR before Sherman was taken to Gibson General Hospital, where additional attempts to safe him were unsuccessful.
Sherman had been in custody since June 16 on a residential entry charge.
He was later charged with dealing meth.
An autopsy is expected within the next few days.
