ISP Officer Charged with Insurance Fraud

An Indiana State Police Officer is arrested on fraud charges.

ISP reported that following a four-month long investigation, Lucas Zeien of Evansville was arrested.

The investigation began on February 13 following an anonymous tip alleging Lucas Zeien and Kerri Zeien divorced in April of 2008. Lucas had allegedly failed to report that change of marital status and update his authorized dependents for health insurance benefits.

We are told that resulted in Lucas' former wife and two children from a previous marriage to be able to utilize health insurance under the plan that covers ISP personnel.

Following the investigation, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office charged Lucas Zeien with Insurance Fraud, a level 6 felony.

Effective February 22, 2017, Zeien was placed on Administrative Duties with Pay at the Evansville State Police Post. Since then, Zeien's authority as a law enforcement officer has been suspended.

We are told as a result of the charges filed on Tuesday, Zeien's status is now Administrative Leave without Pay.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Zeien could be suspended for a period of time or even terminated.

Eyewitness News will continue to update this story as they become available.
