JPD: 'Habitual Traffic Violator' Arrested with Gun, Meth, Heroin, LSD in Vehicle

During routine patrol, Jasper Police officers report identifying Brandon Wilkinson operating a motor vehicle.

Officers say they were aware from their prior encounters with Wilkinson that his driving status was listed as 'Habitual Traffic Violator.'

While police were speaking with Wilkinson, they say he was lethargic, and stumbled when he walked.

Because of this, Wilkinson was transported to the hospital for a chemical test.

Due to the test results, Wilkinson was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated/Controlled Substance.

A K9 officer was called in to to assist with the investigation, and indicated the presence of narcotics inside the car.

Officers searched the vehicle and report that they located a handgun, scale, methamphetamine, heroin, and LSD.

After further investigation, authorities determined that Wilkinson did not have a handgun permit, so the charge was enhanced, due to being within 500 feet of a school.

Wilkinson was taken into custody and is currently lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
