Kellogg to Close Evansville Distribution Center

Kellogg Company is announcing it plans to close 39 distribution centers, including a facility in Evansville.

The Evansville distribution center is located on N. Kentucky Ave. near the Evansville Airport, and according to a local company official, it employs 11 people.

Company spokesperson Kris Charles says, “While this is the right move for the company to achieve our long-term objectives, it was a difficult decision because of its impact on employees. On average, our distribution centers employ approximately 30 full-time workers.”

The company says it's moving to a warehouse model already used by Pringles and the rest of its North American business.

Kellogg says it has been in conversations with some of its retail partners who have expressed interest in hiring some of the employees once the transition is complete.

The closure is expected to happen between October and December of 2017.

State Rep. Holli Sullivan issued the following statement on the closing:

“This is disappointing because the Kellogg Company has been such a great employer in Evansville, and there will be job loss. We will be working with other retail partners in the community to assist those who have been displaced with finding new, gainful employment.”
