KSP: Man Arrested Following Foot Pursuit

A welfare check at an Owensboro home led to a foot pursuit where shots were fired by an Owensboro police officer.

David Hays, 34, is charged with fleeing, criminal trespassing, and resisting arrest.

It started when police did a welfare check in the 400 block of Geary St.

An officer reportedly spotted Hays running from the home and chased him.

Kentucky State Police said Hays told the officer that he had a gun and lunged toward him.

The officer, Mark Lusk, fired his gun and missed which led to Hays reportedly fleeing the scene again.

Hays was caught by another Owensboro police officer.
