Local Mustang club donating proceeds of event to Fallen Officer's family

The Green River Mustangs club is hosting an event this Saturday to help the family of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Police Officer Phillip M. Meacham, who was killed in the line of duty in March.

The club wants to assist Meacham's family with day-to-day expenses and other financial concerns during the event, entitled, "The 1st Annual Stampede for the Thin Blue Line."

The public is invited to join the Green River Mustangs on Saturday, as they gather at 11:00 a.m. at the old Ponderosa parking lot, located at 302 S. 2nd St. in Central City.

The group will be meeting with other Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee Mustang clubs, and following law enforcement escorts at noon, to "stampede" along the back roads, making their way to Hopkinsville.

Once there, the club will present 100% of the proceeds taken in to Officer Meacham's wife and child.

Anyone wishing to drive their own Mustang vehicle during the event is encouraged to attend, and will be asked to donate $25.

All participants are asked to decorate their Mustang with a thin blue line somewhere on the vehicle.

T-shirts will be available the day of the event in limited quantities, and proceeds from their sale will be added to the donation to the Meacham family.

The club will also be raffling dozens of donated items.

Raffle tickets are $1 each, or six tickets for $5.

More details can be found on the club's Facebook page, here.
