Rick Pitino, Jurich Placed On Administrative Leave At Louisville

University of Louisville Men's Basketball Coach Rick Pitino has been placed on administrative leave. Interim President Greg Postel, announced that Athletic Director Tom Jurich is also on leave. The school also said a student athlete will be withheld from NCAA activity.

"An administrative leave is an administrative leave, it is not a dismissal from the position," said Postel addressing reporters on the campus of U of L.

Steve Pence, Pitino's attorney, told the Courier-Journal Wednesday that the coach has been "effectively fired".

Pitino's leave will be unpaid, while Jurich will still be paid.

The news comes one day after the FBI revealed a corruption investigation that resulted in ten arrests.

The FBI alleges that a recruit connected to Louisville was paid by a shoe company to attend the university.
