Man Accused of Fraud Against South Hopkins Fire Dept.

On Friday, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office arrested a member of the South Hopkins Fire Department on fraud allegations.

Blakely Vaugh, 40, was charged with six counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and two counts of theft by deception.

On July 3, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office said it received information from the South Hopkins Fire Chief Darwin Rideout that funds and donations were missing from the department's bank account.

Through their investigation, authorities said they discovered that Vaughn had altered business receipts to gain funds for his own personal gain.
