Man Arrested After Driving 23 mph over Speed Limit, Authorities Say

The Kentucky State Police is investigating a Clay man for possession of controlled substances after a traffic stop Wednesday evening.

A traffic stop was made on Michael Bowers, 36, who was allegedly driving 23 mph over the speed limit on Hwy 109 in Diamond, Kentucky.

Authorities say Bowers allegedly attempted to avoid being stopped and ended up losing control of his vehicle and collided into a metal gate.

Authorities tell Eyewitness News Bowers was determined to be under the influence of controlled substances.

Upon a search of the area, authorities say a pill bottle containing Hydrocodone was found that had been tossed into the woods.

Bowers was arrested and charges with:

  • Speeding 23 mph Over the Speed Limit
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence
  • Reckless Driving
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • No Seat Belt

Bowers was lodged in the Webster County Detention Center.
