Man Charged in Fatal Crash Makes First Court Appearance

The driver charged in connection to a wrong-way crash that killed Boonville teenager Skylar Robinson and left another girl in critical condition appeared in court for the first time Tuesday.

Osiel Marroquin is facing six charges all in connection to the crash.

Among Marroquin's charges is a level 4 felony regarding the 15-year-old Skylar Robinson's death.

Police say this is because Marroquin has a previous DUI charge in Florida.

In the Warrick County courtroom, the judge said Marroquin could be looking at 6-12 years in Indiana corrections.

“No amount of punishment is ever going to give someone closure on a case, but we've been really frustrated here lately because it seems like it's an epidemic of these types of cases,” said Warrick County Prosecutor Mike Perry.

Marroquin's bond has been set at $150,000. He's also on hold through the federal immigration department. No precise details are available surrounding that hold.
