Man Charged with Theft at Rural King

Authorities arrested a Jeffersonville man for reportedly stealing tools valued at over $1,600 from Rural King in Jasper in January.

Authorities say 37-year-old Joseph Zaepfel placed the items in a shopping cart near the back door before asking to use the telephone near the gun counter.

Zaepfel reportedly called his accomplice to wait outside the backdoor, grab the items, leave the store, put the items into a gold minivan, and drive away.

Zaepfel was arrested and charged with Theft.

He was transported and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
