Man Convicted for Armed Robbery at Liquor Store

Jvon K. Sydnor, 23, has been convicted of an armed robbery that happened at a liquor store in Mt. Vernon back on September 21, 2016.

Sydnor was convicted of two counts of armed robbery Wednesday.

His sentencing hearing is set for March 3.

He appeared in Posey County Superior Court on Wednesday. His trial started on January 30.

Armed robbery, a Level 3 Felony, carries a potential sentence of 3-16 years in prison, according to the Prosecuting Attorney of Posey County Travis Clowers.

Sydnor will be held in the Posey County Jail without bond until his sentencing hearing.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jonathan Parkhurst said, “We are very satisfied with the Jury's verdict today. The evidence presented in this case shows that Jvon Sydnor is a very dangerous man. He was previously convicted in Vanderburgh County in February of 2015 with a prior robbery. He has now been convicted of Armed Robbery and should received a lengthy sentence at the Indiana Department of Corrections for his crimes.”

Posey County Prosecutor Travis Clowers said he wanted to personally thank the store clerk who testified that she was working on that afternoon.
