Authorities Release Name of Man Killed in Dubois Co. Accident

A man was killed after he was hit by a pickup truck in Dubois County Tuesday.

Wednesday morning the Dubois County Sheriff's Department released the name of the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said 83-year-old Morris Weidenbenner died of trauma to the right side of his body and head.

The Sheriff's Office said the accident happened just before 2 p.m. Eastern Time.

A pickup truck was westbound on State Road 56, near the town of Ireland, when a man tried to cross the highway at County Road 550 West.

The driver of the truck told Sheriff's Deputies that he saw the man and tried to avoid him, but it was too late.

Investigators say it does not appear the driver was at fault in the accident.
