Man who barricaded himself inside The Timbers apartment arrested

After refusing to come out of an apartment for more than 3 hours Saturday, the man responsible for a stand-off at The Timbers apartment complex in Evansville is now behind bars.

Brian Dowdell has been booked into the Vanderburgh Co. Detention Center. He is charged with battery, criminal confinement and criminal recklessness.

On Saturday, Evansville Police say Dowdell struck a woman with the end of a shotgun and then barricaded himself inside his apartment.

SWAT was called to the scene. Authorities used tear gas and flash bangs to get Dowdell out of the apartment.

Police say the woman involved suffered minor injuries in the incident. Nobody else was injured.
