On Wednesday, Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke announced the construction of a new Kids Kingdom playground along the downtown Evansville riverfront.
The new structure will replace the existing Kids Kingdom playground located near Waterworks Rd.
The playground site is being moved due to federally mandated sewer projects.
Preliminary plans are calling for a new playground, restrooms, and a memorial brick display.
The display will incorporate bricks from the current Kids Kingdom playground.
The new structure will be designed by Leathers & Associates, the same firm that built the original Kids Kingdom 15 years ago.
As part of the design process, Leathers & Associates is seeking input from local elementary school students.
The firm is holding two Design Days on October 18 and 19 at Lincoln School, Caze School, Highland School, Evansville Lutheran School, and Holy Rosary Catholic School.
The public can complete the surveys by clicking here.
