Medical Marijuana Advocates Hold Rally at Indiana Statehouse

Advocates in Indiana are pushing state leaders to pass some sort of medical marijuana legislation.

Hundreds rallied at the statehouse on Thursday for the drug they say can help relieve pain and suffering.

Whether it's full legalization or simply legalizing hemp oil, 28 states have some sort of medical marijuana law on the books. Indiana isn't one of them.

Just this week, a State Senate Committee passed a bill to allow children battling epilepsy to be prescribed hemp extract.

That bill is co-authored by State Senator Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville).

The hemp oil bill is the first bill related to medical marijuana that has been passed by an Indiana Senate Committee.

There are 11 other bill related to medical marijuana in the statehouse. That's the most of any session.
