Morel Mushroom Hunting Season Approaching

Morel mushroom season is not too far away. Morels are a springtime delicacy hunted by plenty of people in southwestern Indiana.

With prices nearly $20/pound in stores, several would-be hunters usually keep their best mushroom scouting spots to themselves.

Experts say once the temperatures reach the 60's during the day and stay above 40 degrees at night, the morels will start showing up.

Kevin Cross, an agriculture teacher at Sullivan High School says, “That's going to be perfect fungus weather I guess. And they're going to start coming up so I bet in the next couple of weeks you'll probably see some people out looking.”

Make sure you don't trespass on anyone's property when you're out hunting for mushrooms.
