New Jailer to Take Office in Daviess County

The new head of the Daviess County Jail officially takes office.

Art Maglinger was sworn in as jailer Thursday afternoon.

He takes over for David Osborne who retired earlier this year because of health concerns.

Maglinger was with Owensboro Police for thirteen years, most recently as a detective. He says while he's sad to leave OPD, he's excited for the new opportunity -

"I've got a very strong sense of justice. I do believe in personal responsibility and accountability. At the same time, I see great opportunities to show compassion and develop programs for the inmates as well."

Maglinger adds he planned to run for jailer in 2018.
He takes office Thursday night at midnight.
