OCTC Hosts Robotics Regional Championship

If you love robotics and competition, there was no better place to be Saturday than Owensboro Community and Technical College.

OCTC hosted the “First Tech” robotics regional championship as it has done since 2010.

21 teams from Kentucky and neighboring states with kids in grades 7-12 were facing off in the Velocity Vortex.

The goal was to control their hand-built robots to fling balls into the vortices.

The tournament director said the competition was fierce.

Out of the 21 teams, two will advance to the super regional in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

From there, they'll have a chance at the world robotics championship.
