One person seriously hurt in White County oil well explosion

Sheriff Maier says the explosion appear to be an accident.

WHITE COUNTY (WEHT) - A worker was seriously burned after an oil well exploded in White County.

White County Sheriff Doug Maier tells Eyewitness News the explosion happened around 1:00pm Tuesday at Precision Oil Fields just west of Carmi.

We're told part of an oil well broke loose and sparked the explosion.

One worker was air-lifted to a Louisville hospital for serious burns. Two other workers were hurt, but we're told their injuries appear to be minor.

Sheriff Maier says the explosion appear to be an accident.

Precision Oil Fields is owned by Citation Oil.
