Owensboro Catholic Schools Superintendent Retiring

The Dioceses of Owensboro says the superintendent of Catholic schools is stepping down.

Jim Mattingly will retire effective July 31. He has served 40 years in education with the last 13 as superintendent.

The following statement was posted on the Diocese of Owensboro's website:

"It has been a joy and privilege to serve the diocese and to work with the many educators that have mentored the many children that have gone through the Catholic education system throughout the diocese. Each of your devotion and loyalty has inspired me over the years. I am very grateful for the last 40 years."

"I have loved my job and my co-workers here at the McRaith Catholic Center. I would especially like to thank Bishop Medley for his support and express my appreciation to Bishop McRaith for giving me a great opportunity to serve in the Diocese. I won’t be far away. Just stop in or give me a call. Please continue to pray for me as I will for you."

No word yet on who will be replacing Mattingly.
