Owensboro Set To Honor Bishop John McRaith

A former Owensboro Bishop will be honored by the community where he dedicated his life.

Before Noon Mass Thursday, the body of Bishop John McRaith will be moved from Glenn Funeral Home to St. Stephen Cathedral with a tractor-pulled wagon.

The Owensboro Diocese will receive the body before the Noon Mass.

After Mass, public visitation will be held until 8:00 OM. A vigil service is scheduled to be held at the Cathedral at 6:00 PM.

On Friday, public visitation will continue from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Cathedral.

The Funeral Mass in honor of Bishop John McRaith will begin at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow at Mount Saint Joseph in western Daviess County.

McRaith died at his home on Sunday.

First ordained in 1960, John McRaith came to Owensboro in 1982. He served as Bishop of the Diocese of Owensboro until 2009.
