Pot Belly Pigs Allowed in Evansville

Evansville City Council passed an ordinance on Monday night allowing people to own pot belly pigs within city limits.

A person who owns a small pig will require a permit costing $100 a year. Officials say this is to prevent impulse buying.

The proposal came as many micro pigs began showing up at Animal Control. Many of them went unclaimed likely because it wasn't legal to have them.
