Progress being made on Warrick County War Memorial

Just outside of the old Boonville courthouse lawn, the Warrick County War Memorial is coming along nicely as the cannons, granite benches, and bricks are already installed.

The memorial will have 153 names of Warrick County veterans who lost their lives from World War I to the Korean War.

It's expected to be completed by Veterans Day.

County Commission President Marlin Weisheit said, “It's very important to recognize those that did lose their lives and to recognize all veterans and military branches. And to have that here on the courthouse lawn finally – it's just a relief to me.”

Weisheit said if the monument is finished in time, there will be a ceremony to unveil the new memorial on Veterans Day on the square in Boonville.
