Pulitzer Prize winner receives Day School's inaugural Founders Achievement Award

Mr. William Snyder, a 1977 graduate of Evansville Day School and four-time Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist, returns to Evansville on Friday, to accept Day School's first Founders Alumni Achievement Award.

The award ceremony will take place during the Founders Society Luncheon at the Evansville Country Club from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This is a new annual event for Day School which celebrates the school's history of educational excellence, and recognizes the outstanding achievements of its graduates.

The Founders Society Luncheon attracts Day School alumni from all over the country who will return to honor Snyder.

The luncheon program consists of a report on the state of school by Head of School, Jarin Jaffee, and a keynote address by Snyder.

Snyder is a four-time Pulitzer Prize winning photographer and editor, and Chair of the Photojournalism Program at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

During his 15 years as a staff photographer with the Dallas Morning News, Snyder won three Pulitzer Prizes.

In 2005, as The Morning News' Director of Photography, he guided the photography staff to the 2006 Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News for their coverage of Hurricane Katrina.

He also produced 'Eyes of The Storm,' a book featuring the images from hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
