Rally at Four Freedoms Monument Focuses on Diversity, Inclusion

Here in the Tri-State about 300 people gathered at Four Freedoms Monument Friday afternoon, and marched to Central Library.

Organizers called the joint rally, march, and fair "with liberty and justice for all."

The event was focused on diversity and inclusion here at home, as well as across the country.

But organizers say unlike much of the nation, their aim wasn't to protest a specific person, like the newly sworn in president.

Wendy Bedfold, an organizer of the event, said “we could have had an anti-Trump rally if we wanted to, but we really wanted to spend today affirming our values, sharing our values, and kind of re-dedicating ourselves to our values."

While there were some people at Friday evening's rally protesting President Trump, the speeches and sentiment were aimed at unifying the Tri-State as well as America.

Organizers say they plan to keep up these types of events here in Evansville.
