Ribbon Cut in time for Summer

Just as Memorial Day weekend gets underway, Muhlenberg County residents celebrate the newest feature at Lake Malone State Park.

A ribbon cutting for the new boat docks happened Friday morning.

Improvements include new gas pumps and improved accessibility for those with disabilities.

More than $260,000 was raised by residents and groups like the Felix Martin Junior Foundation to pay for construction.

"I would say, to me, one of the main things about it would be the lake is starting to improve again,” said Don Phelps, “It's coming back to life. We see a lot more people, a lot more stuff going on."

The old docks were closed last year because of unsafe conditions.
