Ribbon Cutting Held for New CORE Center

The Daviess Community Hospital opened a new $5 million orthopedic center in downtown Washington, Indiana on Friday afternoon.

The center comes with funding assistance from the Daviess County Economic Development Foundation, the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the City of Washington and other private donations.

Joe Wellman, the Mayor of Washington; representatives from Congressman Larry Bucshon’s office; county commissioners and council members; and other physicians and elected officials also attended the ribbon-cutting for the new CORE Center (CORE as an acronym for chiropractic, orthopaedic, rehabilitation excellence).

The CORE Center is expected to double patient capacity for regional orthopedic and chiropractic-related services.

No tax dollars were used in the development of the building itself.

The facility is located at 421 East VanTrees Street in Washington. It includes a state-of-the-art rehabilitation pool/underwater treadmill and onsite x-ray imaging services.

The CORE Center is easily accessible from U.S. 57.
