Seven candidates file for Union County Judge Executive

(Your Local Election Headquarters) - Seven people have filed to run for Union County Judge Executive in the upcoming 2018 election. There are two Republican candidates and five Democratic candidates running.

None are currently on the Fiscal Court.

  • Jeremy Curtis – Democrat
  • Michael Hardesty – Democrat
  • Tom Stevenson – Democrat
  • William Holbrook – Democrat
  • David Hart – Republican
  • Adam O'Nan – Republican

The current interim Judge Executive Joe Clements will not be running.

The position was previously held by Jody Jenkins, who was found dead earlier this year.

Union County Coroner Stephen Shouse said a preliminary autopsy report indicates Union County Judge-Executive Jody Jenkins died due to an enlarged heart with significant blockages.

A final report on Jenkins' death will be completed pending toxicology results.

A trial date was set for May 21 in connection with Jenkins' alleged involvement in a Union County theft ring.

He had pleaded not guilty to all counts.

An indictment was handed down back in September, accusing Jenkins of covering his alleged actions by directing false invoices to be submitted.
