Children identified as victims of Evansville chase crash

Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear has released the names of the victims who died in a crash that started as a police chase.

The victims have been identified as seven-month-old Prince Carter and two-year-old Princess Carter.

Autopsies are scheduled for 1 p.m.

Evansville Police said one of the children died Wednesday night. They confirmed a second child

died Thursday morning.

A news conference where more details are expected to be released has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

EPD said 26-year-old Fredrick McFarland was driving to get away from police when he crashed into another car on Linwood and Monroe Avenue. 

Several people were taken to the hospital from the scene of the crash.

An unspecified amount of people are still receiving treatment in the hospital. 

Police said McFarland is still being treated in the hospital due to injuries from the crash. Once released, EPD said McFarland will be taken jail where he'll face felony charges.
