Shoppers Shocked at Sears Staying Open

A retail giant is reeling with plans to shut down hundreds of Sears and K-Mart stores across the country.

The Tri-State will take a hit, but some stores are safe.

Owensboro's K-Mart will close along with 150 other Sears-owned stores across the country.

Evansville's Sears at Washington Square Mall is said to be safe.

Mall officials say this Sears is one of the best performing stores in the Midwest.

Many shoppers say they're surprised to hear that, most say they rarely ever shop at Sears.

The aging shopping center will keep its current tenants during a multi-million dollar renovation, including a new food court and exterior entrances.

Work is expected to start in the spring.
