Shotgun Wound Sends Owensboro Woman to Hospital

A shooting just before 11:00 PM Monday night sends an Owensboro woman to the hospital.

Daviess County deputies said that when they arrived at the 3800 block of State Road 81, they found 45-year-old Deva Kellems suffering from a gunshot wound to her right upper thigh.

Authorities said the wound was made by a 12 gauge shotgun, fired by 50-year-old Lesley Coy Kellems.

According to deputies, the two were married at one time, but their current relationship is unclear.

A tourniquet was applied to Deva Kellems on the scene, and she was transported to Owensboro Health for further treatment.

As of Tuesday morning, she was listed in serious condition in the hospital.
