Snow makes great backdrop for proposal

This Friday night, the Tri-State is pretty much a ghost town, instead of celebrating the end of a work week many people are staying home.

However, one local family headed out to the Henderson Riverfront for a big life moment.

Cody Book told Eyewitness News he had been planning how he would propose to his girlfriend Shawnee for a month.

"I wanted it today because 12 is her favorite number" said Book "and it's January 12th so I didn't want to wait any longer. "

Book said the weather threw a wrench into his original plans to propose in Owensboro where he first asked her to be his girlfriend.

Book said he called family and friends and changed the plans to Henderson instead.

After she said yes, the family went out to Wings Etc because it was one of the only places open in Henderson for a celebratory dinner.

"I mean it was romantic" said Book "and I feel like it is more special having the snow fall and everything. "
