A real estate investor and restaurant owner announces he's running for Vanderburgh County Commission. Steve Hammer says he will run for the District 2 seat as a Republican.
Hammer hosted an announcement party on Thursday night at Roca Bar North, where he is an owner. He says his experience as a business man would translate well in working with the county.
"Part of being a restaurant tour is bringing people together, finding solutions," said Hammer. "A lot of the government that I've seen attending the commissioner meetings, it's a lot like running a business, and I think I would be excellent at that."
The District 2 seat is currently held by Bruce Ungethiem who will not seek re-election next year. Ungethiem plans to run for the Indiana House District 64 seat.
