Terence Barker's funeral planned for next week

Barker died from injuries in a car crash in late November after a police pursuit

A funeral will take place next week for a man killed in a crash stemming from a suspect fleeing from Evansville police.

Osborne Funeral Home tells us Terence Barker will have funeral services next week. Staff at the funeral home have not yet confirmed the date or time of the services.

Barker, 26, died on December 26 at St. Vincent hospital from head injuries as a result of the crash. His death has been ruled a homicide.

The chase happened back in November. Evansville Police began pursuing Frederick McFarland, 26, after officers believed he may have been driving a stolen car. Officers tried to talk to McFarland about a possible false tag when he took off speeding through an inner-city neighborhood that resulted in a 4-minute chase.

McFarland then crashed into a car driven by Janae Carter at Monroe and Linwood. Barker and Carter's children, Prince and Princess Carter were also inside that car. Prince and Princess Carter died in the crash. Janae Carter has since been released from the hospital for her injuries.

McFarland is scheduled to appear in court on January 3.
