Tonight at 9 & 10: Homelessness in the Tri-State

On a single night, nearly 550,000 people in the US are homeless. Homelessness is a well documented problem in the Tri-State. However, when the weather turns cold, attention turns to folks living outside in camps.

Eyewitness News' Stuart Hammer met with Ronnie and Kevin on Friday. They are two of about 500 homeless people in the city of Evansville.

Aurora made its annual counts Thursday with similar numbers as last year.

Brian Kearney with Aurora says the city has a shortage of around 150 housing units, which could be years away from being built.

Aurora also says there is a growing problem of homelessness among women in Evansville.

Tonight on Eyewitness News at 9 and 10, Stuart Hammer will have more on the problem of homelessness in Evansville.
