Tri-State Church Holding First Responders Services Sunday

An Evansville-area church will continue its tradition of honoring first responders with special services this Sunday.

Northwoods Church on North Green River Rd. will host First Responders Day this Sunday.

It will be the 10th year the church has had special services to honor first responders.

The lead pastor said the first responders service allows the church and community a chance to simply say 'thank you.'

“When we see blue lights, it is not necessarily a good day in our life. For them, it's not always a good day either. They're either having to visit us when we're hurting or visit us because they're having to pull us over for something or meet us at a crash site. In this case, we're able to see them at a moment where we can say 'thank you.'”

The church is also organizing a relief effort for communities devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

The first responders services will be held at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday.
