A Vanderburgh County intersection was blocked off for more than an hour due to a fatal accident involving two cars.

It happened around 4 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of St. Joseph Avenue and Mohr Road.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff's office says a car was traveling East at high speed when it went through the intersection without stopping at the stop sign, then collided with a Southbound pickup truck.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found a female driver, 21-year-old Brooklyn Springston of Evansville trapped inside the car flipped on its top in a field fifty yards from the intersection.

The second vehicle, a pickup truck, was driven by 28-year-old Jacob Kluesner from Evansville.

Kluesner sustained a head injury.

Life Flight was called in and attempted life saving measures on Springston, who died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
