Valentine's Day at White Castle

As red and pink filled the Tri-State for Valentine's Day, some people celebrated the holiday in a non-traditional way by eating at White Castle for their Valentine's Day dinner.

But while some call it non-traditional, one family has made it their tradition for six years.

"Everyone's like you're doing reservations at White Castle? Really?" White Castle general manager Mary Kightly says.

Yes. Really.

From the fancy table cloths to candles and balloons, White Castle for some has become their Valentine's Day romantic dinner.

"You can have this really cute memorable night and it doesn't cost 100$ for dinner," Mary Small says.

Alice Shen, who went to White Castle last year says, "It just seems like a very fun idea especially if you don't celebrate Valentine's in a traditional way."

But one family has been creating memories at White Castle for six years.

"We were looking for somewhere that did something a little different and that wasn't too overly crowded and so it just worked out," Scheva Hurm says.

Scheva and her family go to White Castle every Valentine's Day, driving all the way from Owensboro to carry on the tradition.

"It just kind of became a tradition and it's kind of funny we're the only ones I know that do it," Scheva says.

"I think it's perfect because it's custom for our grandson," Cathy Morrison says. "It brings us all together we make the efforts to come."

Whether it's for the sliders or for a family tradition, love is in the air...or on the grill.

The general manager at White Castle says their whole dining room was booked with 18 reservations totaling 56 people.
