A high speed chase ends with a significant amount of damage at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Vanderburgh County.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office said they arrested Matthieu Resseguie after he damaged headstone and landscaping at the cemetery around 8:00 PM Wednesday night.
Police describe Resseguie as a habitual traffic violator. He was traveling north on Hitch and Peters Road when he went through a stop sign at Saint George Road. Deputies said the car ramped over the intersection and entered the exit lane of the cemetery.
While driving fast, the car skidded into the lawn of the property, running over head stones and grave markers according to deputies.
In all, six headstones and markers sustained damage along with much of the landscaping.
Resseguie eventually stoped in a parking lot on Ward Road where he was arrested.
He refused to take a field sobriety or a chemical test.
Resseguie was treated at a hospital before being booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
