What's Next for Beaver Dam Rest Stop?

The Beaver Dam Rest Stop on the Western Kentucky Parkway in Ohio County is expected to go back out for bid after it abruptly closed over the weekend.

Crews put up signs on barrels at the on and off ramps while workers started moving equipment out.

Kentucky transportation officials say the rest stop closed due to liability issues after an agreement ended between the state and vendor ended.

It's reopening depends on several factors.

Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says, “That will depend on whomever comes in. Do they want to remodel this building? Do they want to build a new building? There's a lot of issues that will be dependent on whoever bids on the property?”

Rest stop employees tell us they only learned of the closing just days before it shut down.
