Dr. Gary Ransdell will be moving from Western Kentucky University to an office in Colorado that will enable him to take students around the world.
In a press release Wednesday, Semester At Sea announced Ransdell as their new president and CEO beginning January 1, 2018.
Ransdell will replace current president Dr. Loren W. Crabtree, who is retiring from the position.
The WKU alumnus began his career as the school's president in September 1997, and will be retiring from the position after the 2017 Spring semester.
Semester At Sea is owned by Istitute For Shipboard Education, which is now based on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
Semester At Sea is described as a global education program that uses a ship as a traveling campus.
Western Kentucky University recently announced that Dr. Timothy Caboni will become the school's 10th president, replacing Ransdell.
