WKY Airports Teaming Up

In western Kentucky, three airports are teaming up to promote their flights.

The Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport is partnering with airports in Bowling Green and Paducah for the Western Kentucky Air Service Partnership.

It's purpose is to promote direct flights to cities including St. Louis and Orlando as well as maintain current services.

Bob Whitmer of Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport says, “All three have fairly small populations, so we have to draw from a more broad area to get the numbers to support the services. So, we have to get the word out. None of us have large marketing budgets so we need to take advantage of every opportunity we can.”

Officials say the group will also lobby lawmakers in Frankfort and Washington for common issues.
