YMCA: man accused of molesting was cited for having child in lap in 2012

The suspended Scott Elementary School teacher accused of molesting a student had a citation during his employment with the Evansville Downtown YMCA.

In a statement, YMCA CEO Derrick Stewart said that in 2012 Justin Wolf was cited for having a child sitting on his lap, “which violates the company's established practices and training regarding maintaining appropriate boundaries.”

At the time, the YMCA investigated the situation and interviewed the child's mother.

According to the YMCA, in that incident, there was no indication or evidence of sexual abuse.

The YMCA said Wolf was reprimanded, reassigned, required to retake the mandatory child safety training, and informed that a future violation would be grounds for termination.

Since that time, the YMCA said it had not received a complaint against him.
