The LST-325 board of directors held a public meeting Saturday, but did not discuss contract negotiations with Evansville or Peoria. Kenneth Frank, president of the board, said they are waiting on a final offer from Peoria before deciding the fate of the vessel.
Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke spent almost six hours with the group on Thursday. Board members expressed concerns about low attendance numbers and the location of the ship. Winnecke said the city may be able to relocate the vessel to the slot where the river boat now sits if land-based gambling is legalized, but that may not be for several years.
Frank said the board is required to notify the city of Evansville by October if the vessel will stay or move. However, he said a decision will likely be made before then.
