Deputies say James Cummings called a crisis line just before 8 Monday night and told them he had a gun and was hearing voices.
Cummings also said that he was shooting people who weren't really there.
After deputies arrived at the home in the 1500 block of Wright's Landing Road, they made contact with Cummings' mother, telling her to leave the house.
She got out safely and Cummings was taken into custody a short time later.
Deputies say he was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
